Relentless Birthday Zombie Hordes
A metaphor for mortality, a Thriller video recreation, or a testament to buttery chocolatey goodness? Any way you look at it, it was a great birthday party!
Gameletting, Part 6
It’s official – I’ve sold (almost) all of my CCG binder sets and would have, if I didn’t have inconvenient expenses cropping up all the time, raised enough money to get myself to GenCon this year. As it stands, I’m a little further behind than that, so the gameletting continues.
The only two sets I didn’t sell are X-Files, which turns out is incomplete, so isn’t fit for sale, and Netrunner, which I can’t bear to part with, because the game is so darn good. I simply undid those binder collections and combined the cards with my regular play pool.
I was pleasantly shocked with the last-minute bidding war over the Buffy cards – who knew that my obsessive promo collecting through the redemption points programme would ultimately prove so profitable? Very nice!
As promised, I’ve taken another hard look at my RPG shelves and removed games that I’ve either never read, or have read once and will be unlikely to flip through again – games based on books that I don’t love, or thick tomes such as the Guardians of Order version of Game of Thrones, or the World’s Largest Dungeon / World’s Largest City books from AEG. I also have a secondary objective of clearing enough space to in order to store my collection of introductory boxed sets in a single shelf, so selling those larger books helps me reach that goal.
Curious? Check out the list!

Skating & Sledding with the Kids
Naomi howled “Faster! Faster!” soon after this picture was taken. Ben just enjoyed the ride.
Fantastic day.
Valentine’s Day Songs
Most love songs that I can think of off the top of my head are stories of yearning or loss, but rarely about being in the moment. Here are two that do:
Jeffrey Gaines – In Your Eyes:
Michael Franti & Spearhead – Home (Just close your eyes and listen.)
(I’d've added Les McCann’s All Strung Out on You to the list, but, you know, I haven’t found that vocal recording yet. Maybe in another 20 years.)
Happy Valentine’s Day, Everyone!
Ninth Anniversary
I started this blog on a whim on a slow Wednesday morning at the office. I’ve paused from time to time, but I’ve kept moving forward.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the rants, reviews and revelations, and that you’ll stick with me a while longer. I can babble on endlessly, and may eventually say something clever.
Gameletting, Part 4
The results of the last round of gameletting were astonishing – one item was bid up to eight times its starting price in the last hour. That was fun to watch!
I’m just pleased that all the items from the last round sold. That clears out an entire shelf.
For this upcoming week, two TV-show related games go up for sale: the fantastic Buffy the Vampire Slayer game (any game that uses Buttkicking as a base stat is okay with me!) and the corner-cutting Battlestar Galactica (which is ironic, considering how much more expensive the custom die cuts for octagonal cards must have have been). With those, binders gone (hopefull) I will no longer have any binder collections.
Looking past that week, I think I’ll take a second run at the RPG shelf to see what can be cleared without being missed (Fireborn and the World’s Largest City & Dungeon, I’m looking at you…)
Valentine Elf
I’ve got a set of short kids videos that I watch when I need a smile. Here’s the latest addition.
Gameletting, Part 3
The third phase of the gameletting focuses on CCGs – the binder sets, to be precise.
I used to keep complete sets of every game I played for bragging rights and deckbuilding reference, but I don’t do quite as much deckbuilding as before and those binders simply take up a lot of space. I don’t need the cards for my actual play collections (except for Netrunner – those cards aren’t going anywhere), so I’m curious to see if there’s still a market for them.
This week: Middle Earth CCG, 7th Sea, Initial D and Star Trek: TOS sets are up for grabs. Next week, Buffy and Battlestar Galactica.
