Because dear Mr. Magicbane has game text that’s custom-designed for me: “All of your critical failures are considered critical successes.”
That is to say: every time I roll a 1, I treat that roll as a 20.

The biggest shock upon arriving home from the hospital wasn’t the mounds of unwashed laundry or the terrible state of the kitchen floor…
…no, it was realizing that, after four days of holding my 6 pound, 2 oz son, our three 9 to 16 pound cats look like lions!
